Veggie Time: Zucchini

A lot has happened since the last post. Like a loooot on the code and gameplay side, and while those updates will come in their own time I will show you today my recent adventures in modelling plants.

I have never created plants or foliage before so this was quite the learning experience but I am actually very happy with the results and it only took a whole weekend 😅

oh but wait, there is something weird going on with them being shaded much harsher than they are supposed to!
After a checking the Blender export settings I noticed that it will export with dual normals which I think Unreal doesn’t like so instead I exported it with smoothing over faces and then my beauties were ready for prime time 😊

Here they are in action – currently just growing right away but we will address that in a future update 😉

  1. Congrats on modelling your first plants, I think they look pretty great, very painterly and cool (and hey, you learned about the smoothed normals export stuff too! :D)
