There is not much to update this week, since I am back home in Austria on holiday… or errr reference gathering, of course 😉
Before I headed off, we were looking at an annoying bug with Unreal’s World Signed Distance Field and masked-out materials, causing quite ugly lighting issues.
As you can see below, the left tree with a fully masked-out mesh section (snow layer) still receives shadowing and AO as if it were still visible, making it much darker than it should be.

More in-depth info on that once I am back and fix it for good. But we have some possible routes to fix things already that look really promising.
Then I also used the long, long, looooong hours traveling and at the airport designing some quests. Especially for the start of the game, to make sure to send the player on the right way and introduce them to the game world.

And lastly, it’s the perfect time of the year to get some references for the Winter Season in the game!
