Busy Times, Game Dev Bloopers and Corny Coder Jokes | Weekly Update #32

Oh my, a late update! This has been such a crazy week that I simply could not find the time to update this DevBlog.

It was a week filled with brushing up on low-level programming topics; I walked, talked, and dreamed about memory alignment and pointer arithmetic. πŸ˜„

Working on high level gameplay code 24/7 can really lead to your foundational programming knowledge withering and dying. So, this week was much-needed CPR for that side of things. πŸͺ¦

But also, that sadly meant JodelTown did not receive all the attention and TLC it deserved (I really think we should finally get around to giving a single day more than 24 hours; it’s clearly not enough time πŸ˜‰).

But in lieu of anything super exciting to talk about, how about some really bad low-level programmer jokes? 😁
Yes! I can tell how excited you are! Hold onto your seats.
No worries, afterwards I also added some bloopers from working on JodelTown. 😁

Bad Jokes

Why was the assembly coder soaking wet?
Because he was working below C-Level πŸ₯

There are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, those who don’t, and those who weren’t expecting a ternary joke.

What’s the difference between C and C++?
1.

My compiler when I clean up includes and removed one too many:

Blooper Time

The feeling of lower back pain in picture
Metahuman Animator did not like my stylized eyes I think πŸ€” Even the model was shocked πŸ˜‰
I think we all had a day where we felt exactly like this 🫠🫠
Now… are we cosplaying Grounded or did we use the really wrong fertilizer?
When you are try to decide if something is a bug or a feature…

Alright, that’s it for this week I am afraid. Hopefully we are back to regular scheduling rather sooner than later. See you then and have a lovely weekπŸ‘‹πŸŒˆ

  1. Working on those core programming skills will only help accelerate JodelTown in the long run, so that’s time well spent 😁
And as a user of _getch() in my little test programs to pause for user input (with MSVC at least) I feel seen 🀣
(Plus I know that back-pain feel, though she might also just be trying to get out a really bad wedgie 🀣)

Also thanks for the metahuman nightmares 😱😱😱😱😱

You know… I quite like those giant daisies though! 🀩… bug AS feature? πŸ€” “Why not both?” 😁
